VETERINARIANS


Dr. Lisa Ainsworth, DVM


Dr. Lisa earned her DVM degree from Mississippi State University in 1994 and has 25 years of veterinary experience. She grew up on a farm and has been around livestock her entire life. Immediately following graduation, Dr. Lisa worked for several large cattle operations for a couple of years before returning home to open her mixed veterinary practice at Taylorsville. She purchased Bay Springs Veterinary Hospital in April 2018 and is enjoying becoming a part of the Bay Springs community. Dr. Lisa truly loves all animals and has several pets of her own. Dr. Lisa is compassionate and considerate of every patient as well as their owners. Dr. Lisa and her staff keep a close watch on hospitalized patients as well as boarding animals.


Dr. Emily Vowell, DVM


Dr. Vowell completed her DVM degree in May 2023 at Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine. A native of Taylorsville, Emily grew up with 4-H and FFA livestock projects, and many various pets! She has always been compassionate toward all animals, and that passion has only been amplified during her vet school career. She is committed to the well-being and life quality of companion pets and also that of large animals.

During her tenure at the College of Veterinary Medicine, Emily spent many hours doing surgeries, delivering emergency care to small and large animals, participating in several large animal externships, and providing diagnostics and routine wellness care and vaccinations.

During her leisure time, Emily enjoys tending a few cattle of her own and spending time with her two heelers, June and Pearl. She also enjoys cooking and gardening.

Dr. Emily is energetic and eager to take care of your fur babies. She is also available for farm calls and herd health management. Please help us in welcoming Emily to our clinic. VETERINARY TECHNICIANS


Melissa Allen, Veterinary Technician


Melissa has worked at Jasper County Vet for three years. She has been working with Dr. Lisa for the past 18 years. Melissa is a native of Mize MS and married to Larry Allen. She’s the proud mother of three children and several fur babies. She loves working and caring for animals of all kinds.


Tera Ainsworth, Veterinarian Technician


Tera has worked for Jasper County Vet since 2019. Tera has been in the Veterinary Services with Dr. Lisa since she was 6 years old, being the bosses niece has its perks. She started out as an actual employee at the age of 15 as a kennel worker and moved on up over the years to a Veterinarian Technician.. She is a valuabble asset that we could not do without. Tera has a deep love for all animals and has a menagerie of pets at home. When she isn’t at work she’s normally hanging at the house with her pets or shopping with her friends.


VETERINARY ASSISTANTS


Kelly Bloxham, Veterinarian Assistant


Kelly is one of our veterinary assistant, she has worked for Jasper County Vet since 2020. Kelly also works as one of our receptionist. She is a native of Sandersville, MS and resides in Ellisville with her husband Nathan Bloxham and their kids. Kelly is the proud mamma of three children Lane, LaCie, and Jackson. She’s also the bonus Mom of River and Maylee. Kelly is known as GG-Nanny to her three grandsons Jace, Luke, and Jameson. She is a member of West Ellisville Baptist Church. When she isn’t at work you can find Kelly working at home on their farm and hauling kids to rodeos and ballgames. She loves animals especially her own fur babies Tuff, Coon, and Matilda.


Nicky McCallum, Veterinarian Assistant


Nicky has worked for Jasper County Vet since 2021. She started as a weekend kennel worker and moved up to vet assistant. Nicky enjoys working with and caring for animals. She resides in Stringer MS with her husband Thomas McCallum, and their son Jaxon. Nicky has four fur babies Tink, Elbow, Muttly, and Sweetie. Nicky is a member of lake Como Church. She loves spending time with her friends and vacationing and many other activities.
